Writing a better story - together
I have been using this journal for a month now, size wide. It's fantastic for purposeful planning for my children's schooling and extra - curricular activities. Taking time to plan, talking about what they are studying at school and reflecting on things helps me write a better story with their childhood development needs foremost in my mind, honing in on the essence of what our focus could be for that month in their personal development journey... and being aware of when enough formal activities are enough:-) When creating goal pages/story pages, I am coming up with additional activities that complement their school learning. Be it a museum visit, zoo, pool, gardening, or camping trip - there is a perfect time to immerse ourselves in these activities, to help create the imaginative space needed to really explore the world with their heads, hearts and hands. Likewise, the pages also allow for the creation and protection of quiet, home days to play, bake and relax.. this has really helped me to say "no" to some activities, in favour of time at home just baking and talking! A word on the tip-ins: I use mine for key meetings and planning events. I note down what I am grateful for at school, the paediatrician, etc. It takes the focus from the negative issues and keeps me in a positive frame of mind when thinking and writing down the more formal questions. It also allows me to positively anticipate those meetings, in a constructive way.
